What a successful event!

As we wrap up our Hatch Street winter open studio event for 2016, we can look back on an exciting weekend! We had a great crowd both days, with our parking lot full to the brim and our hallways bustling with guests. Folks came to look art, to chat, to shop for holiday gifts, and to discover the creative energy that flows inside our building. Many of them left carrying wrapped parcels and the cards of artists they had collected along their journeys down the Hatch Street hallways, along with warm memories of their experience.

We Hatch Street Artists would like to thank all those who came out and made our event such a great success! We'd also like to thank Gregg Harper for adding a note of musical beauty, and Destination Soups and Alice's Food Truck for their delicious fare. The efforts and energy of many creative and dedicated people came together this weekend, resulting in a terrific time for everyone involved. Let's do it all again next year!

A few views from Hatch Street Winter Open Studios 2016:

Jewelry, ceramics, prints, paintings ... there was a lot to look at in each room.

One of the best things about open studios: a chance to talk with the artists directly about their work.
Here, Alissar Langworthy discusses her imagery with visitors to her studio.

Michelle Lapointe's stained glass is always popular with shoppers.
With her studio adjacent to the display area, guests can see where her beautiful pieces are created.

A rare quiet moment on the fourth floor yesterday; our hallways were bustling all weekend long!

Show your love at Open Studios

The Hatch Street Winter Open Studios, coming up in just a few days, will offer guests the chance to view the artwork made by our group of 50+ artists. But visitors can participate in the creative process as well.

To help foster respect and strengthen community, Hatch Street artist Diana Arvanites invites you to participate in her "Wall of Love" project. She calls it "a positive space of connection, reflection, expression, inclusion, diversity, and love."

Stop in to her studio on the fourth floor, Space # 402, to draw, write or sculpt material to add to this community wall. Diana hopes the wall project will allow the community to join together and "make a true portrait of America, a space where love doesn't have boundaries or labels."We all have so much in common," Diana says. "Let us share our beauty."

We hope to see you this-coming weekend, Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, at 88 Hatch Street in New Bedford's North End. Our building is handicapped accessible. For complete details, visit our website's events page. See you soon!

Two weeks and counting!

It looks quiet now, but don't let these closed doors fool you! Behind them, we Hatch Street artists are busy readying our wares and our spaces for the upcoming open studios. In just two weeks' time, our hallways will be bustling with guests.

This event is an exciting opportunity for art creators, art viewers, and art lovers. It's a chance to see new artwork of all kinds, talk to the artists about what they do and how they do it, even purchase a fresh piece or two to take home and enjoy for a lifetime.

Plus there are musical and culinary specials: local musician Gregg Harper will be playing acoustic guitar, and Destination Soups and Alice's Food Truck will be serving up delicious eats.

So don't miss it! We're looking forward to welcoming you on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
