Open Studios Countdown: THREE DAYS LEFT!

Time is ticking down to our annual Open Studios / Holiday Sale 2017! Hope you're planning to join us! Here's the schedule:

Friday, November 17, 5 to 8 p.m. open studios, 8 to 11 p.m. dance party with Pumpkin Head Ted

Saturday, November 18, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., open studios plus steel drum ensemble El Caribe

Sunday, November 19, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., open studios plus guitarist Butch McCarthy.

All weekend: Food service by Destination Soups of New Bedford.

Along with art, food, and music, you can visit a fun house!

A geodesic dome fun house, that is. Jared Friedman, who is the son of Hatch Street artist Pat Kellogg, has set up his project in Pat and Mike Hecht's studio, # 404. Come by during open studios and discover this seven-foot geodesic sphere, an experience that Jared says is like entering a disco ball.

Of the experience, the artist explains: "The viewer enters the structure and sits down on a cushion on the floor, the door shuts, and everything is completely dark. After a short time, there is a flash of light, and all surfaces inside are revealed as mirrors. Soon the lighting begins to change, both of its own accord, and in response to the viewer's position and movements. The experience is by turns exploratory and meditative."

Stop by and check it out! For details on Jared's project, visit: https://www.jared-friedman.com/portfolio/geode-1-fun-house/

The studio will also feature Pat and Mike's artwork, plus you can cover your holiday gift list from Pat's offerings of beautiful hand-made jewelry.
